Started day at breakfast, was as we have become accustomed to, very nice. We provided Patsy and Mary Lou with bags for our sack lunches. They seem rather uninspired by the nudge... Have a feeling we won't be eating anything they put together. We left for the boat (ferry) to Suomenlinna Island and had to wait 55 minutes as we just missed one. The trip took less than a half an hour and was very smooth and nice. The island which was a past military site was really kind of closed for the winter. We went to the travel information booth got maps and started walking. We went to the outside of a church, walked by a military museum, and had coffee at a cafe...that was about it. So we headed back to the boat and just caught one that was leaving. When back in Helsinki we headed to the hotel. Linda and I decided to go to a designer clothes shop that we had heard about. Her stuff is really fun and different, almost funky. However everything was made either in China, Greece or India...kind of a turn off. We then headed back to the hotel to gather everyone for dinner, special dinner that I will let Linda tell you about. It was great fun and great food. Tomorrow we are off to Estonia.

Those of you who know me are going to be amazed by the following. We divided into two groups to take cabs to Suomenlinna Island (the number one tourist attraction in Finland). My cab mates were late and we missed the ferry. Fortunately another one came along an hour later allowing us enough time to shop at the local vendors in the market place by where we were to catch the ferry. Suomenlinna is a short ferry ride away, with many sights and museums that were now closed for the winter. The history was interesting and there was a nice coffee shop that was a cafe and art shop combined.
Upon returning Linda and I went to visit a clothier we had anticipated seeing. All the clothes were beautiful but only from China, India and Greece, nothing local or Scandinavian.
Went to a restaurant mom visited in 1981. The staff were delighted with the old menu I brought, they even gave me a copy of a current menu from the restaurant to keep! Next door was a St. Urho's pub! They didn't have merchandise for sale, but I recited the Heinisirkka to them and the manager went into the basement and found an old St. Urho's pub shirt for me! It's a bit dusty, but will be proudly worn by me on the next March 16th! We headed back to the hotel and then off to the sauna. Estonia tomorrow by fast boat if the waves are not too high! Till then....
